Upcoming Speakers for March 2026

Our season runs September through May.

Date: March 11th, 2026

Time: 17:30

Speaker: Paul Connor

Topic: Canadian Open Data Society

Abstract: The Canadian Open Data Society (CODS), operational since 2013 and incorporated since 2020, has convened and recognised Canada's open data publishers, analysts and advocates every year at our Summits and Awards held in various Canadian cities. But now, with our new and encompassing Directory of portals, our upcoming courses for new members and experienced professionals alike, and our increasingly vigorous advocacy, the Society hopes to inspire not only participation, but support. We have a long term vision of a truly "open data society" where data publishing mandates can level the field between corporations and consumers, governments and citizens, scientists and students, entrepreneurs and the establishment; serving as a check and balance in our society alongside the Crown, Parliament and Courts, Media and Civil Society.

Bios: Paul Connor is an experienced non-profit executive and economic researcher who has led Angel Investors Ontario, the Ontario Clean Technology Industry Association, and the Canadian Open Data Society; and worked as an economist, corporate communicator, campaign manager, educator, typist, deli-meat slicer, and janitor. Originally from Thunder Bay, Ontario and raised in Toronto, Paul has an undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Toronto, a Masters in Technology Management from the Ted Rogers School of Business, and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Corporate Communications from Seneca College.
